Garry Nash
Garry Nash has been working with hot glass since 1978 and is recognized as one of the pioneers of the studio glass movement in New Zealand. He joined Sunbeam Glassworks in Ponsonby, Auckland, in 1981 as a full-time glass artist, acquiring ownership of the studio seven years later.
Gallery Pacific formed a relationship with Garry Nash during the mid 1990's, enjoying success with a comprehensive selection of his blown works over the following twenty year period.
Today we occasionally offer select signed pieces made by the artist.
Art making process
Sunbeam Glassworks was an incredible workshop studio in Ponsonby, Auckland. Filled with a lifetime's collected and acquired tools, the premises had a rich visual texture, like an art installation itself.
This is where Garry Nash and his team worked over three decades, mostly mouth blowing glass, but also crossing into neon art, glass casting, and wheel cutting glass forms they had made.
