Katerina
Katerina shone as an apprentice jeweller during the 1980's.
For close to 40 years she has been part of a specialist Auckland workshop focused on creating jewellery featuring Austalian Opal and cultured Pearls from the Pacific.
Working hidden, behind the scenes of Gallery Pacific's physical space, she is however integral to the finished jewellery collection we present.
Dialogue spanning decades continues between Katerina and Gallery Pacific, resulting in the collection of Opal and Blue Pearl jewellery we present.
Initial concept, refinement of design and discussion about materials precedes the realization of these finished jewels.
Katerina's collaboration with Gallery Pacific is at the heart of our business.
Jewellery making process
Katerina's workshop space is flooded with natural light, which she takes advantage of, starting her workday early, tapping into morning energy.
Ergonomically designed so her tools are all within arm's reach, her workshop space is the perfect environment for the close concentration required to hand make fine jewellery.
Gems specified by Gallery Pacific have their mounts made in Katerina's workshop, before Scott receives them and performs the delicate task of setting the stones.
Each piece of jewellery is finally scrutinized before being displayed at Gallery Pacific, photographed and added to our online store.
Accompanied by her dog nestled at her feet, Katerina brings to life jewels that form the core of Gallery Pacific's unique offering.
