Aotearoa Carved Arts is a window into Maori art, design, and worldview through the language of carving.
Whakairo is the Maori word used to refer to the carving of wood, stone, and bone, a tradition practiced in Aotearoa New Zealand for hundreds of years.  
Authentic contemporary carving upholds this tradition respectfully, at the same time allowing the artform to evolve and develop in the hands of the present generation of carvers.
